Eight Stop - Harris Beach State Park (Oregon Coast) - June 21 -22, 2018
Our last morning in Redwoods National Park we went into the small town of Hiouchi, and filled the propane tank, the gas tanks, the supply of essential foods (primarily wine and Gatorade and potato chips), and had a great breakfast at the Hiouchi Cafe. Then off for the short drive over the Oregon border, to Harris Beach State Park.
Arrived to sunshine, and a nice open sunny campsite. Felt good after the shade canopy of Redwoods! Harris Beach state park is right on the ocean. Took a short walk across the road and down to the beach. Very windy!! Tide was going out. The views of the huge rocks and the crashing surf were fantastic! We took a drive to a Visitor Center to find out our options for the next few days. Then back to a different part of the beach for happy hour, and after dinner, also an amazing sunset over the Pacific. Life is good.
The next morning was foggy and chilly. But we had internet! Caught up on internet stuff, and by noon the sun was shining. We took a drive north, (Samuel Boardman Scenic Highway?) on the 101, stopping at various lookout points for amazing views of the ocean. Several short walks. Absolutely beautiful. Went into town for dinner at a Mexican restaurant, and watched another sunset.
